My name is Karim. I am 12 years old and turn 13 in February 2014. For as long as I remember, I have been tinkering with computers, and have loved computers as a whole. I used to take broken computers from car boot sales and fix them up for fun. I would also play a video game called ROBLOX, where you could play and make games. I loved to make games in it. You could write scripts too, which first got me into coding. I made some scripts, but none of them really took off. I thought about it, and then it hit me. I can’t really make programs in another game, because that’s like working for someone else!
I left ROBLOX, and decided to go into Web Development. I learnt how to create websites. I currently own two websites, www.teamxenon.co.uk, and www.karimkraku.com. I am very proud of both, and I constantly work on them to improve them.
I received my first Android phone in 2012. It was an LG Optimus L3 and it got me interested in Android and Linux. I already had some good experience with Ubuntu. However, my phone wasn’t that great, so I didn’t really get a good taste of Android. My sister had a better android phone, though, so I made a tiny platforming game and tested it on her phone. Just seeing my work run on it made me so happy. I later got a Motorola Moto G. Its amazing!
I researched more, and more, and one day, after encouragement from friends, I started Team Xenon as Nitrous Gaming. It completely flopped however. One of my friends who helped me out sneakily bought the domain name behind my back, and said that he would only transfer it to us if we made him the leader. The sad thing is, he had no coding knowledge and nitrousgaming.co.uk went to waste. He was trying to make money off us, without any knowledge.
We went for a rebrand. We decided on Team Xenon, following the theme of blue.
From then on, I decided Team Xenon has the biggest potential I have ever witnessed. I really want to make it happen.
